One of the most important and often-used scientific skills is organizing information or objects into categories based on shared characteristics. The next step is to analyze the data that was categorized, looking for patterns that may reveal an important scientific truth.
You are about to identify and classify objects in the Hubble Deep Field image. To begin, choose one section of the HDF to study more closely. (We are using only three of the four cameras' images for this exercise.)
