Newtonian reflecting telescope

A Newtonian reflector is based on Newton’s original reflector design, but uses a primary mirror with a parabolic shape instead of a spherical shape. This allows a Newtonian reflector to avoid the problem of spherical aberration that affected Newton’s original telescope.

This design and the original rely on a mirror to collect light, instead of a lens, so they both avoid chromatic aberration.
